EUROPEAN CHAMPS BREAKS OFF THIS SATURDAY
THIS SATURDAY SEES the start of the 2024 DYNAMIC BILLARDS European Championships as players from across the continent converge on the Slovenian town of Podčetrtek. There are a host of medals up for grabs as players compete in straight pool, 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball divisions as well as teams. In all, there are 15 gold medals available and the event can boast one of its strongest fields in recent times.
Play gets underway on Saturday 6th July with men and women contesting the straight pool division and continues to its conclusion on Tuesday 16th with the 9 ball finals.
Commented Tommy Lamminaho, the EPBF’s Sports Director, "A strong field is arriving to Slovenia again to battle for the European Championships which shows, not only the importance of the event for the national federations, but also the ever-growing number of World Ranking events to which you can qualify for by succeeding at the Europeans.
“Every four years, the qualification for the World Games is there and for the first time the discipline will be 10-ball and the top ranked athletes in men & women from this EC will represent their country at the World Games in Chengdu, China in 2025."
There are sure to be some epic battles throughout the 11 days of competition as all four divisions are packed with talent. The likes of Joshua Filler, Francesco Sanchez-Ruiz, Mario He, Niels Feijen, Sanjin Pehlivanovic and Wojciech Szewczyk are just some of the names populating the men’s division.
In the women’s events, the best players on the continent are competing, including Ina Kaplan, Pia Filler, local hope Ana Gradisnik, Oliwia Zalewska and Bojana Sarac.
